Motorcyclist killed, driver arrested for DUI after crash on New Cut Road

LOUISVILLE, KY – A fatal crash on Sunday night has police investigating what they are calling a DUI case in Louisville, reports WHAS 11.

The crash occurred close to 7:50 p.m. in the 5600 block of New Cut Road when a Nissan Rogue pulled out of a private driveway in front of a motorcyclist who crashed into the back of the SUV.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead after being taken to UofL for his injuries. He has been identified as James Purvis, 53.

The SUV’s driver, Shwe Tun, was asked to perform a field sobriety test before his arrest.
