Narrative
STANFORD, KY – An elderly woman died Wednesday in a wrong-way collision along the highway in north-central Lincoln County.
The accident happened shortly before 1:30 a.m. on the northbound side of US-27 at East Main Street in the city of Stanford. This is about an hour southwest of Lexington.
Police say that a southbound 2004 Buick entered the northbound side of US-27 and collided head-on with a northbound 2017 Toyota.
The driver of the Buick, identified as Sandra Arie of Creve Coeur, died at the scene of the wreck.
Medics transported the 19-year-old driver of the Toyota to an area hospital with non-critical injuries.
