Narrative
LIVINGSTON CO., KY – A 68-year-old woman and two children died earlier this week after a six-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck in southeast Livingston County.
The accident happened Monday on I-24 at the bridge for the Tennessee River, which is west of Lake City and northeast of Gilbertsville.
Police say that the driver of a northbound 18-wheeler failed to slow for traffic ahead of him and crashed into the rear of multiple vehicles. Six vehicles total, including the semi, were involved in the wreck.
Upon impact, one of the vehicles ignited, killing the female driver and two juvenile passengers. Authorities identified the woman as Saundra Dodd.
Medics transported Dodd’s husband to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
It’s not yet clear how many others were hurt in the accident or if the 24-year-old truck driver will face charges.
A full investigation is underway.
