COLE COUNTY, KY – A motorcyclist was seriously injured after a crash on Highway 54 Sunday night, KMIZ reports.

Around 6:20 p.m., near Old Bass Road, the driver was ejected from the vehicle after the motorcycle flipped.

The motorcyclist, identified as 49-year-old Wingo resident Raymond L. Thomas, was airlifted to University Hospital. There his condition, initially reported as serious, is now listed as stable.

Highway patrol reports Thomas was driving at a high rate of speed without a motorcycle helmet at the time of the crash.
