HARDIN COUNTY, KY – A collision on I-65 in Hardin County on Monday night left one man dead and a woman critically injured, WLKY reports.
A KSP trooper was responding to an unrelated incident when he discovered the two-vehicle crash on I-65 near mile marker 91.
The collision occurred when a car driven by an unidentified 19-year-old woman spun out in the northbound lanes of the interstate and ended up facing the opposite direction. Her car was then struck head-on by another northbound vehicle driven by 56-year-old Gerald Bell.
Bell was rushed to UofL Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His passenger, an unidentified 25-year-old, was also taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The driver who initially spun out was reportedly uninjured. Investigators believe wet road conditions were a factor in the crash.
